As we embark on yet another new year, many of us partake in the lifestyle tradition of creating a new year’s resolution. From going gluten free to quitting drinking, there is plethora of ways we intend to better ourselves. However, perhaps it’s time we transition our thinking from individual improvement to focusing on the environment—and one of the easiest and most efficient places to begin is within the walls of your own home.
Society’s energy dependence has reached a height of disturbing measures. From carelessly leaving on unused electronics to taking half-hour showers, global warming appears to be something society is only aware of, not engaged with. This is not only concerning, but also perplexing as being conscious about our individual energy use not only improves the environment, but also saves us money. Sure, many consumers today are aware of more traditional methods of frugal “household” spending (e.g., Directv Internet), but when it comes to limiting our use on energy-exertion, we simply look the other way.
